Amazing Spiderman 2 (2014)

For the behind the scenes video, I picked The Amazing Spiderman 2. This movie continues the part of the Peter Parker series of him becoming a superhero and protecting his city. During the behind the scenes video I noticed a lot of different things. So much of this movie consists of just greenscreens. This also creates more work for the actors to get every placement correct for the greenscreens. When Spiderman is swinging from building to building there is only poles and a green screen. This also leaves the editor to include so many sound effects for the swinging and shooting of webs.

Another cool thing in the behind the scenes video is the extras in it. During scenes where the city is under attack, it was interesting to see how many extras were needed to create the effect of a crisis in the city. During scenes like this, they also show someone helping the actor exactly how to make their scene better. It was cool to see that the actors don't always get it right. There are so many people helping with each individual thing that needs to be done. During this part in the video, we can see in the movie cars flipping over and the superheroes flying. The cars that were flung back were pulled by wires that avoid the camera which makes it look so realistic. Same with the actors, when they are "flying" they are just pulled with wires which was cool to see. They also use zip lines to give off the effect of falling/flying.

One of the really cool features in the movie is how Spiderman can climb on walls. This was done with a box like "room" and a machine that rotates the room so that it looks like Peter Parker is walking in it, while in reality, he is just sliding up and down it. Another major part of the film is when the makers had to come up with the Spiderman suit. They explained how long it took them to perfect the super suit for Peter Parker.  They said that they went through a few designs to get to the official suit. Before the film, they had to actually construct the suit over his body to get the lines and skin-tight, "aerodynamic and sport like" fit that we see in the movie. There was a lot of thought to how his suit was going to make others perceive him. They discussed how they wanted him to look "lean, not bulky" (mimic spider) like other superheroes.

Overall, there was a ton of preproduction into this film whether it was for a simple scene like Peter Parker "constructing" his own suit, down to battles between superheroes. So many people had different roles during this movie to make it work.
