The movie Clueless, directed by Amy Heckerling, was made in 1995. The overall movie is about Cher wanting to become not as self centered as everyone thinks she is. She cooks up an idea to set up two teachers who are desperately in need of love together; this is her "good deed". She continues denying boys that want to date her with her famous line "as if" because she does not feel it is important at this point in her life. Unfortunately for her things do not match up to her plan in life later on.

During a specific scene "R.SV.P" scene, the main character, Cher Horowitz, is presenting a class debate between her and her classmate. However, Cher tends to not do to well in school because her family is rich and does not think it is as important as it is. In the scene it starts off with Cher walking outside of her school with a number of student also outside walking around. I noticed that as she is walking the camera is walking with her in front looking directly at her. There is also almost like a "glow" around her, making her the one to focus on. The scene then switches right into Cher's classroom with her standing next to her classmate at the podium's. The camera follows the teacher while keeping only Cher in the frame forgetting the other girl standing next to her to keep who is more important in focus.

As Cher presents her speech she completely has no idea what she is talking about and the camera keeps panning to the teacher to show his confusion with what she is saying. The camera also switches toward the students listening, however they made it so that it comes up super high school like with none of the students listening, passing notes, and eating.

The music in the background as she is giving her side of the debate goes along well with the scene because I think it gives off a more "the students are bored" feeling, and it also plays along into the teachers frustration and confusing about Cher's speech. When her speech is over we finally get to hear what her opponent says for the first time. She is utterly upset with Cher for not preparing a real speech for her to debate with. Cher's classmate who she is opposing, I noticed had very bright green eyes in the scene. You can see how well that they lit them so that they popped on camera, which I think looked really good.

Other things I am working on:

This week during class, Grace, Ashley and I started to put together a bigger film we have ideas for. We want to do a Halloween themed film with trick or treaters taking more than one piece of candy when they are only supposed to take one and put a twist on what happens to the kids. We went to Grace's house on Wed night to scout where everything will be set up with props and where the actors will be standing. After filming for the first time at night I have learned a lot more about how important lighting and ISO's are. My mistake was that my ISO was to high created grain and noise in my shots. We also now know we need a lot more lights than we intended because of how dark the shots looked when we tried filming them. We are supposed to film again on Sunday night with Lousia as our actress along with Devin as another actor. We have other friends who live in the area coming to be extras.

Overall it was really good that we decided to go film before Sunday the other day because now I know ahead of time, so we do not waste anyones time trying to figure everything out when they get there!
