For my documentary I watched a movie called "Who Took Johnny". I chose this documentary because I have a huge interest in different crimes/murders. On youtube, I will watch a bunch of unsolved crime cases. In this documentary, it is an abduction that took place 30 years prior and took a huge turn and is still not completely solved. This film really investigates more than just Johnny. It goes on to tell us how it changed people perspective of where and when they let their kids go out. In the film that they said there was no real investigation for a strange amount of time because at this day and age people who had missing kids, their kids usually just ran away from home. It was new to the culture for there to be abductions in this town.

I really enjoyed this documentary for many reasons. One of the reasons why I liked this is because in the opening hook of the movie it grabbed my attention by an old news clip of when Johnny first went missing in his town. I thought that this was the best way to start this movie because they did not give any other information except very small details stating that this child was missing and it grabbed me in right away. Another reason why I enjoyed this film is that of the use of very old clips of the old police film, and more recent videos of different scenes where all of this occurred. They also used different pictures from the past of the day that Johnny disappeared. Another thing that I liked about this film is that when they had the interviews they would have each person tell a little of the same story. I thought that that was a good way to catch my attention and engage more on what they were talking about.

During the interviews, they also used the rule of thirds, more people being on the right-hand side of the screen. The use of sound in the film, I wish that there was more. When they staged the abduction they could have used more suspenseful sounds, it was more silent.  My favorite part of the documentary was when they started to clue us in that many abductions in this area occurring after Johnny was all connected. I thought that I made me have to try and think of a case in my head while watching the movie. I like it when crime movies or tv shows make me have to try to put things together while the movie is still going on. I think it is a fun way for me to enjoy the film.

Overall, I thought that this movie did a good job. The only things that I would change about it if it was a little more suspenseful with sounds effects, and maybe if the movie was a little shorter. I enjoyed watching this movie and would recommend it to anyone who likes cold cases.
